Does Color Make A Difference?

 

When you think of the word “Color”, which color comes to your mind? Is it Red, Blue, Yellow, Gray, Purple or maybe even a nice Pink? Colors add so much to a persons outlook with just about everything, and has an affect on our everyday lives . A color can reflect your personality in any room of your home. What makes the colors more personable, is the overall tones.  All colors need to blend in a pleasing combination.

MOODS, Ah yes, color has psychological value which influences your moods.  You can create any mood with the color combinations you select. Know that colors also “behave” in three basic ways: Active, Basic and Neutral. Light colors are expansive and airy whereas dark colors are sophisticated and warm.

When selecting colors for a painted room, a comforter, lampshade and of course a custom hand-painted addition to your home, select your colors to suite what YOU want to  be reflected.

Just a few color definitions:

 

RED – Raises the energy level. Pumps the adrenaline like no other hue. 

                                                                                                                                                                                  YELLOW – Captures the joy of sunshine and communicates happiness, is energizing and uplifting.

                                                                                                                                                                                       BLUE –  Is considered calming, relaxing and serene, and it is often recommended for bedrooms and bathrooms.  To encourage relaxation, consider warmer blues, such as periwinkle, or bright blues, such as cerulean or turquoise. 

                                                                                                                                                                  

GREEN – Is considered the most restful color for the eye, it encourages unwinding but has enough warmth to promote comfort and togetherness. It is believed to relieve stress by helping people relax.

                                                                                                                                                                                   PURPLE –  Is rich, dramatic, and sophisticated. It is associated with luxury as well as creativity. Lighter versions of purple, such as lavender and lilac, bring a restful quality to any room.

                                                                                                                                                                                  ORANGE – Evokes excitement, enthusiasm and is an energetic color. 

                                                                                                                                                                              NEUTRALS – (black, gray, white, and brown) are basic. All neutral schemes add color to liven things up; subtract it to calm things down. Black is best used in small doses as an accent.
